The 5th Annual Taste of the MarshWalk hosts eight Murrells Inlet restaurants that each offers a sampling of their most popular dishes. This family-friendly event is perfect for the kids with face painting, pony rides and bounce houses. Oaks Plantation Excursion │January 9 – February 28
Brookgreen Gardens is well known for its blooming, beautiful scenery during the spring and summer months, but you can dive into a bit of history in the winter on the Oaks Plantation Excursion tour. Walk the roads of the gardens with an interpreter to learn of the history of the Alston family who used to live on the land. You’ll visit the plantation house, the Alston family cemetery, the slave village, and more.
Freezin for a Reason Polar Plunge │February 3
Travel a few miles north to Myrtle Beach for a dip in the cool ocean all for a great cause. Polar Plunge SC is a group that supports the Special Olympics South Carolina, and you can be a part of the tradition. Nearly 600 people will meet at Sands Ocean Club for a dive into the Atlantic Ocean. Take the plunge on your own or form a group to take on the cool challenge.
Surfrider Oyster Roast & Bloody Mary Contest │February 25
All-U-Can-Eat Oysters. Need we say more? The 5th Annual Surfrider Oyster Roast & Bloody Mary Contest will be held at “On the Halfshell” in Murrells Inlet. Come ready to eat and shop as more than 50 local artists, chefs and vendors will have hand crafted collectibles for you to purchase. Live music will last through the evening at the Tiki Bar. If you want to get in on the action, enter the Put Your Bloody Where Your Mouth Is contest and create your best bloody mary concoction.
