Chive Blossom Wine Pairings
Chive Blossom in one of the most popular Pawleys Island restaurants, rated #1 on TripAdvisor. As one of the most upscale restaurants in the area, we pride ourselves on our extensive range of over 150 wines from some of the world’s most famous wine regions. Choosing the perfect wine for your fine dining experience can be overwhelming, especially when there is such a long list of high-quality wines to choose from. To help you make your decision, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite pairings for some of our most popular dishes.
Trina’s soups are legendary in the Pawleys Island restaurant scene. To go with Trina’s she-crab soup, you should choose a fairly crisp white wine that is not too oaky. Choosing a wine from our selection of chardonnays will provide a welcome contrast of acidity against the rich soup.
Filet mignon is a beautifully tender piece of beef, but is low in fat and therefore doesn’t need to be paired with a traditional heavy-tannin red such as a cabernet sauvignon. Instead, a more subtle red wine, such a pinot noir can provide the perfect balance for your palate.
Our Southern take on bouillabaisse with high quality flounder, shrimp, and scallops is a hearty dish best paired with an acidic wine. We recommend an assertive white wine from our extensive range of Sauvignon Blanc wines.
Our “Interesting Whites” wine list features some fabulous wines from across the world. If you’re choosing the Asian noodles with spicy peanut sauce, this is the perfect opportunity to try one of our Riesling or Gewurztraminer wines from Germany. These wines offset some of the spiciness whilst complementing the natural sweetness within the dish.
Chicken Liver Pâté
Just like our “Interesting Whites” wine list, we have a fantastic selection of “Interesting Reds”. Chicken Liver Pate is a rich and rustic dish that needs to be matched with a bold wine which gives you the perfect excuse to try a new and interesting wine. Try a medium-bodied Côtes-du-Rhône from France for a light peppery taste to compliment the richness of the pâté.
Our Angus beef burger is served with apple smoked bacon, caramelized onions and housemade pimento fries. A bold Zinfandel, with a moderate tannin level and high acidity is the perfect match for these strong flavors. We stock some of California’s best Zinfandel wines so you’re spoilt for choice.
Blackened Pork Porterhouse
Our pork porterhouse is a lean cut of pork and one of our customers’ favorite dishes. Is it coincidence that America’s biggest selling red wine, Merlot, is the perfect match for this dish? The soft yet plummy flavor compliments the salty pork and bacon perfectly.
