Whether you’re hosting a Halloween bash or you’re headed to your favorite Pawleys Island bar for a few scares, there are some great cocktails you’ll want to try. So grab some simple ingredients or hit up happy hour in Pawleys Island for some of our cocktails for Halloween. A number of Pawleys Island restaurants offer specialized drinks, so we’ve picked a few of our favorites to recommend while you celebrate the October Holiday.
The lime green color fits in perfectly with Halloween decor. The secret, though, is finding the Pawleys Island bar that uses fresh squeezed lime juice to give the cocktail an authentic taste. If the classic orange is a better fit for your Halloween decor, try a peach margarita with a lime wedge garnish.
If all the ghosts and goblins start coming out at midnight, you’ll want to sip on this Halloween cocktail. The simple mixture is tasty, easy to make, and is relatively easy to find at any Pawleys Island bar.
- 1 1/2 ounces vodka or coffee vodka
- 1/2 ounce coffee liqueur
- Splash of cinnamon syrup
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and stir. Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass. Add a lemon twist as garnish and enjoy.
This delicious cocktail recipe comes from Upstair at the Kimberly in New York, but can be easily recreated at the best Pawleys Island restaurants.

Hot Brown-Buttered Rum Cocktail
If you’re skipping the Pawleys Island restaurant scene and hosting your own Halloween or fall party, this is the perfect seasonal drink. The hot brown-buttered rum cocktail recipe is a great one for a room full of people. The cinnamon is the perfect spice for fall and you can easily make these drinks and allow everyone to dine outside.
This recipe serves 8 to 10 guests.
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 1 3/4 cups brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 (750-ml) bottle dark rum
- 3 cups boiling water
- 2 whole cinnamon sticks
Melt the butter in a large saucepan, but don’t let it burn. Add the brown sugar and nutmeg, stirring until the sugar melts (probably about a minute).
Remove the saucepan from heat. Slowly add the rum and vanilla to the saucepan, stirring continuously. Add the boiling water and cinnamon sticks. Stir. Keep pot on very low heat to keep the drink warm, and serve with ladle.
While these cocktails are perfect for Halloween, they can be enjoyed on any fall day, whether you’re enjoying outside dining in Pawleys Island or relaxing on your deck.
